My mind is going... I can feel it
At the Virginia Beach show a few days earlier, Kelly had pointed out to me that between the songs played before the show, you could hear the Roboto voice saying "No deviance, Kilroy." But as I was standing at the stage in Boston, I heard other voices too. No I'm fine - really. But suddenly I hear, in the gentle monotone voice of HAL, the computer from the movie "2001," the quote "This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it." And I thought, cool - this is the 2001 tour, after all!
As the show began, there was another voice in the darkness, above the insistent pulsing sound, as the band name rises from the stage in letters I have heard described, appropriately enough in context, as monolithic. This time the quote is, "My God... it's full of stars." I think there was a backdrop of a starry sky at the time, but my brain wasn't fully operational at that moment. I feel much better now, I really do.
And yes, the second quote is from the movie "2010" - should I clear my calendar?
