Security check
The show was set to start at 7:30, so I went over to the Fargodome at about 6:15. As I was walking to the front door, I noticed that around back you could hear REO's sound check very clearly! I listened to a little of "Back On The Road Again" and then went around front to get in line.
The doors didn't open until late - almost 7:00. I was there early enough to be waiting inside, but the lines stretched out through the outer doors, and a lot of people were waiting in the cold. There was more room inside, but I guess it was just that "There's a line and I must stand in it" thinking keeping everyone outside. The security people inside were telling us how the search procedure would work. They would split the line into men and women, then pat everyone down and search any bags. No bottles, no glass, and no cameras allowed. The woman in front of me said, "I brought my camera, what do I do?" The security person said she could either take her camera out to her car, or turn over her camera batteries. She asked if she could just give her batteries to her husband, but strangely enough that wasn't good enough! So the woman took out her camera, and it was the exact same model as mine! She took out the batteries, and the security person took her name so she could go claim them after the show.
A long while later, the inner doors opened and people started going in. Now security started their check. At least in the area I was in, however, they were trying to keep the line moving, so after two or three people, they got a little relaxed. When I got up to the security person, she just asked to look in my bag, looked in, didn't see anything that bothered her, and let me go. My camera was not hidden, so I guess the lesson is, don't volunteer to turn in your camera! I wouldn't bring one in if I thought the bands didn't like it, but have you ever seen these guys when they see a camera out in the audience? They smile, pose, wave and say "Hi, Mom!"
