And they're BACK!

I can never explain this properly, but no matter how many Styx shows I go to, for the first few moments of the show I am in a complete state of disbelief about what is happening in front of me. I don't think I ever actually hear the first verse of "Everything Is Cool" - I'm too blown away, and just waiting for my brain to cool down from the initial overload of the band taking the stage RIGHT THERE in front of me. Even in this case - yes, same band as last night, same stage as last night, same song as last night, but I can't explain it - same total brain overload as last night too!  And it's a GOOD thing!

Glen, JY, Tommy Glen, JY, Tommy

Glen talked about the band being in the middle of a break - coming back from a month off and getting ready to take another month off, and he said they had a lot of pent up energy! This led to a very enthusiastic round of DAY-O and a very powerful performance of "Edge Of The Century," including Glen updating the year to "Y2K plus one, baby!" The fragment of  "Mr. Roboto" that they play in this song always wakes up the crowd, and I get a kick out of watching Tommy sing the "Domo" and hearing it come out in the deep, deep voice - half the time it seems to crack him up too!

STYX

JY

"A Criminal Mind" was amazing again - the original version that Lawrence recorded solo is great, but the arrangement with the whole band makes a new song out of it, and pardon the cliché, but it really ROCKS. JY kept making himself laugh, mixing up the words in the chorus - which verse are we on again? After they played the song, JY said that it had been the number one song in Canada several years ago, and he announced "we're going to make it the number one song in America some time soon!" Sounds good to me!
